VERDICT: PROMISE KEPT
The Ministry of Finance (Website: www.mof.go.tz) is the government body charged with managing the finances of Tanzania, to collect its revenue and ensure all its bills are paid on time.
One of the OGP commitments that relate to the MOF is as follows:
#1.6 Post quarterly disbursements and execution reports on Ministry of Finance (MoF) website in machine readable format, updated in real time.
This has been dutifully fulfilled so far as the MOF website has quarterly reports dating back to 2001/02 and upto December 2011 (which I assume is the latest). However, one major drawback to the quarterly report is that they are only available in PDF format. This makes it difficult for one to conduct their own analysis using the data and therefore there is a serious need to start posting excel files of the quarterly reports. Another criticism of the MOF website is that it is unstable and occasionally not available for long periods of time.
Despite the criticisms raised, the promise has been sufficiently fulfilled by our standards and we rate this promise KEPT.
